Research units are expected to adhere to established safety standards that are intended to address research risks. Chemical risks are present in most research laboratories. The challenge in maintaining a safe work environment is managed through establishing standards for how departments and researchers manage their use of chemicals, which is important at all levels of academic leadership and operations. EHS Chemical Safety personnel provide consultation to units on efficient ways to maintain safe workplaces to reduce accident/injury risks.
