Open Payments (Sunshine Act) 2015 Update:

Prepare to Review Reported Data

The Open Payments system is opening for review and dispute on Monday, April 6, 2015. This will be the start of the 45-day review and dispute process for physicians and teaching hospitals to confirm the accuracy of the data submitted prior to publication on the CMS website.

The confirmation process is voluntary, but to participate in the process and correct the data, physicians and teaching hospitals will need to register in both the CMS Enterprise Identity Management System (EIDM) and the Open Payments system (CMS Open Payments Program).

An MLN Connections National Provider Call will be held on Wednesday, April 15 from 2:00PM – 3:30PM Eastern Time. During this call, CMS provides overview of the Open Payments national transparency program and highlights the program timeline when it is most critical for physicians and teaching hospitals to be aware and get involved.

To register for an MLN Connects Call, please visit MLN Connects Event Registration. Space may be limited, so register early.

Update from CMS

Due to technical issues encountered in early August with the Open Payments System, CMS has announced that that it will extend the review and dispute deadline to September 8th. The public website will be available on September 30th. CMS remains committed to ensuring the data made public from the system is as accurate as possible and extended the time for review and dispute to provide physicians and teaching hospitals with a full 45 days.
